Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia is a true wonder of nature.

Situated in a karst area in Central Croatia the park is famous with its many lakes and waterfalls. The combination of the emerald waters and the green trees and hills makes the view truly breathtaking.

Plitvice Lakes are easy to reach – just a bit less than a 2 hour drive from the capital Zagreb. The road is very beautiful and picturesque winding through small, but very cute villages and towns, green hills and flower fields.

To enjoy the national park’s beauty fully, I would recommend booking a night in one of the nearby towns (Slunj is the one I liked the most) and take a 2-day ticket to see the lakes and hike around the park without rushing.
