Pirin Mountain range is the second-highest in Bulgaria and the most Alpine-looking one.

Pirin is full of jaw-dropping views everywhere you look – the steep hills, the picturesque lakes and meadows and streams.

On this hike I visited three of the lakes near Vihren chalet – the Eye Lake (Ezero Okoto), the Fish Lake (Ribnoto Ezero) and the Muratovo Lake (Muratovoto Ezero).

Vihren Chalet is easily reachable by car or by bus from Bansko – only a 30 min drive. From the chalet you can take either of the two well marked paths, leading to the lakes. The hike is not too challenging and it takes a little bit over an hour to reach either of the highest lakes (Muratovo or the Fish Lake). The climbing is really worth it – the lakes are pure beauties. The photos just can’t do them justice.
